Profile of the organization
CID Ghana, Cooperation for Integrated Development Ghana, is a non-profit non governmental development organization situated in the north of Ghana, in Tamale. CID Ghana works on programs and projects that support the development of this area by creating chances for the locals to carry out their own ideas and projects.
The development projects are initiated to generate entrepreneurship, a will to work and to help locals carry out changes that they think are needed to improve life in their area. The projects include the building and running of schools, sponsorship to schoolchildren and capacity building training as well as micro business support and giving health education in clinics and in the communities. CID Ghana development projects start after a request from the local people.
Due to the belief that intercultural meetings and exchange leads to development of both parties CID Ghana organizes volunteer and education programs. The volunteers are selected to workplaces in need of help and students can take courses or do their thesis and internships in Ghana. Therefore CID has experience with the guidance for interns and interns from different countries in Europe have worked in the organisation.
CID Ghana is working with both international as local partners. In and around Tamale and other parts of Ghana CID Ghana is cooperate with other ngo to exchange information and the send volunteers and interns. Besides that the main networks in which CID Ghana is participting are ALSQUE and COVO.
ALSQUE
Alliance for Sustainable Quality Education is a co-operation of 3 small schools from the Tamale district and CID-Ghana. The main goals of this alliance are to optimize the use of resources, to share experiences, resources and ideas, and to work on new ways in which member organizations can cooperate. All members of the alliance have signed charters about abuse, good governance, nourishment, hygiene and non-discrimination. In this initiative CID-Ghana is not the funding organization but rather a facilitator. On regular base the three directors of the schools and the project coordinator of CID-Ghana sit together and discuss various items.
Covo Northern Ghana
Coalition of Voluntary Organizations is a six-member association, namely CID-Ghana, Meet Africa, Sankore Foundation, SKEP, Volunteering Solution and Voluntary Africa. The coalition started to align the work of different volunteer organizations in Tamale to reach their goals in the most efficient way. The members of COVO Northern Ghana want to move the wheel of development of Northern Ghana through volunteer programs as well as that of developmental projects. Because there are more and more organisations that do not care about the development of the region, only want to earn money of volunteerism. COVO cooperation between ngo’s who want to enhance sustainable socio-economic development of the people through volunteer activities in Northern Ghana by having common policies and regulatory measures on volunteer programs. COVO is a platform for volunteers and voluntary organisations. On this way, the association can identify and solve the problems that volunteers have in Tamale.Job description
The aim of internship
CID Ghana wants to extend and deepen her network of long lasting partnership with local and international development-, educational- and business organisations. The aim of exchange includes knowledge and tap of structural sources to finance the organisation and her projects. Besides that CID Ghana wants to expand their project work to the Upper East en Upper West. For this expansion the cooperation with other organisations is necessay. The intern contributes to this aim.
The organization seeks for an intern to develop the following business areas.
1. Build an international awareness of the organization
2. Identify and develop relationships with local organization and international organization.
3. Participate in several networks like COVO Northern Ghana and ALSQUE
4. Participate in all staff and volunteer meeting in the organization
Content of the task
- To explore and identify which kind of local and international organisations can be interested in partnership with CID Ghana looking to the nature and content of the different projects of the organisation.
- Develop a map of potential organisations for each project of CID Ghana and CID Ghana als a whole. Make a link between the projects of CID Ghana, the policy of the Government of Ghana in the field of development work and education, the millenium goals 2015 of the United Nations.
- Develop relationships with local and international oganisations to raise awareness about CID Ghana to exchange knwodledge, to raise structural funds and to contribute to the expansion.
- Research on internet, contacting local and international organisations for cooperation and long lasting partnership with CID Ghana.
- Advice the President about potential partner organisations local and international.
- Participate in the network COVO Northern Ghana, the cooperation between several ngo’s in Tamale who are working with volunteers. The intern will be responsible for coordination, keeping of records minutes, assisting the chairperson and operating the COVO office. The person will be visiting member organisation and also identify other voluntary organisations in and around tamale for further coordination.
